The enthusiasm and interest shown by adults toward natural spaces—recognizing them as contexts for learning and growth—have implications for the level of engagement children bring to these experiences.
The adult’s attitude may be more decisive than the type of stimuli present in the space.
This workshop will cover:
• the role of the adult in outdoor play, according to Laevers’ (1994) perspective;
• the educator’s role in planning and organizing the context (time, space, and materials);
• the educator’s active involvement in interactions with children;
• the importance of continuous observation and evaluation throughout the process.
